Applications have now CLOSED for the 2009 Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (formerly the Practice Nurse Continuing Professional Development Scholarships and the Postgraduate Scholarship Program). The new consolidated commonwealth scholarship scheme developed by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) together with the Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA) provides the opportunity for practice nurses to enhance their professional development through further education. This latest scholarship round builds upon the success of the previous Practice Nurse Scholarship program, which has offered more than 2000 scholarships to practice nurses since it's inception in 2005.

Administered by APNA, these scholarships are open to all nurses working in a general practice environment. There are two streams of scholarship on offer in 2009 -

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scholarships, providing up to $1500 of funding for education and training across a range of clinical nursing activities. There are over 500 CPD Scholarship places on offer this year.

Postgraduate Scholarships, providing up to $10,000 of funding to practice nurses undertaking a postgraduate course of study. There are 20 Postgraduate Scholarship places on offer this year.

Are you a Registered (Division 1) or Enrolled (Division 2) Nurse or Aboriginal Health Worker currently working in general practice? If you are interested in undertaking professional development or furthering your studies you can receive up to $1500 to help cover your costs.
These CPD Scholarships are available for undergraduate, short course and professional development courses.

 

 

 

Are you a practice nurse undertaking or thinking about postgraduate study?
A strictly limited number of Postgraduate Scholarships are available this year. These scholarships provide up to $10,000 of funding toward postgraduate studies undertaken from 1 July 2009.
