The Festival of Nursing – it’s a national nursing conference, SUPERCHARGED!

Learn more about the master classes

Spirometry: Get comprehensive training in the application, measurement, and interpretation of spirometry. Topics include the introduction to spirometry, indications and contraindications, performing spirometry theory, interactive practical sessions, spirometer devices and specifications, quality assurance, interpretation of results, case studies and discussion.

Skin cancer: Join an immersive half-day workshop tailored for nurses with an interest in skin cancer management. This workshop aims to empower nursing professionals with essential hands-on skills to manage skin cancer effectively in a small group setting. The program covers a comprehensive range of topics including dermoscopy, punch biopsy, shave excision, suturing, and local anesthesia, equipping nurses with the skills to manage skin cancer with competence and confidence.

Occupational violence: Empower yourself as a healthcare worker with practical training in identifying risks, prevention strategies, de-escalation techniques, physical intervention, and post-incident support in Australian healthcare facilities. This non-punitive training aims to ensure patient safety and minimize harm, providing relevant tools to manage challenging situations. Join this master class to reduce the risk of harm to both you and your patients.

Chronic disease management: Learn the fundamentals of Chronic Disease Management in primary health care. From theory to practical application and implementation we will cover providing patient centered care, the MBS, comprehensive assessments, care planning and team care arrangements. Nurses will have the opportunity to hone their skills in small group breakout sessions focusing on Chronic Disease Management in different primary health care settings.

BLS: Get the skills you need for your annual CPR and defibrillation update in this session, covering initial assessment, recovery position, CPR with defibrillator, airway management, and choking in children aged 1 month to 8 years. Additionally, learn about initial assessment of the unwell patient, stroke, acute myocardial infarction, and anaphylaxis in adults and children in small group workshops, aimed at all primary health care settings.

Nurse Clinics: Start on the journey to build the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to establish a nurse clinic! APNA’s Building Nurse Capacity program has supported the development of more than 50 unique, team-based, nurse clinic models across Australia. We’ll help nurses build their capacity and confidence to test and deliver new and innovative models of care.

End of life: During times of ill health, life limiting illness and palliation, nurse’s communication and resilience is integral to help understand the needs of the people you care for. In this master class you’ll enhance your communication skills and further develop resilience in discussing personal issues with patients, family, and carers more effectively.

Custodial Health Nursing: Offering career development information and support, this masterclass target audience is nurses aspiring to custodial health nursing practice and current custodial health nurses looking to develop their clinical skills. Working as a custodial health nurse is rewarding and dynamic, offering nurses the opportunities to practice to their full scope. Research has confirmed autonomous practice and a high level of clinical ability are the cornerstone of custodial health nursing.

Nurse Practitioner: Join other Nurse Practitioners in this master class designed to support registrants in their continuing professional development related to the role and function of the nurse practitioner in Australia. You’ll learn the latest information on current challenges and future directions for NPs and provide updates to support evidence-based practice in advanced clinical health assessment, diagnostics and pathology, and updates on medicines and prescribing.

PHN Staff Forum: A day for PHN staff to come together to network, learn and share ideas, insights and projects. Join this engaging day of robust discussion and presentations to help your PHN succeed in the evolving primary health care sector. Discussions will include: Did the budget deliver on reforms? What does health workforce innovation look like post budget? And PHN commissioning MDT – what could that look like?

Pay in instalments!

You can pay your Festival registration/registration+flights in instalments to help ease with the upfront costs to attend. The total amount of your booking for the event is split into the number of months remaining before June 2023. You will receive a payment reminder for each instalment prior to the monthly payment due date of the 15th day of the month. T's&C's apply. 

Flights (inc GST)

APNA has negotiated group airfares with Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar to allow a limited number of Festival of Nursing attendees to buy their airfares from Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney to Perth. Seats are strictly limited, so please get in quick.

Terms and conditions
Cancellations must be notified in writing to the Festival of Nursing Team at register.apna2023@arinex.com.au

Note: there will be a $150 administration fee charged for refunds on duplicate registration payments.

Registration
Cancellations before Thursday 27 April 2023 will incur a A$150.00 cancellation fee. 
Cancellations from Friday 28 April to Friday 16 June 2023 will receive a 50% refund of fees paid. 
Cancellations on or after Saturday 17 June 2023 there will be no refund.

Flights and ticketing

Please note, if you are booking flights, they will been locked in and secured. As these seats are under a group booking, names for the seats will only be provided to the airline/s from early June 2023.

Flights
Cancellations before 9 June 2023 will incur a A$55.00 cancellation fee. 
Cancellations on or after 10 June 2023 will receive no refund. 
Changes to your booking on or after 10 June 2023 will be subject to a A$99 change fee plus any fare and tax difference.
