Nurse Transformers

Digital Health Nurse Transformers

At APNA, we want to support nurses to grow their capabilities and boost their confidence to influence our constantly evolving national digital health system, ensuring safe, effective care for people. This is why APNA is collaborating with the Australian Digital Health Agency to transform how we use digital health in practice. We can ensure digital platforms like My Health Record, electronic prescriptions and telehealth services are used routinely in primary health care.

Together, we delivered three rounds of the Digital Health Nurse Transformer Program between 2020 –2024. Now we are back in 2025!

What is a Nurse Transformer

Do you have a passion for digital health and want to influence others to use digital health technologies in your workplace? APNA's Nurse Transformers program supports nurses to become digital health champions and change enablers for other primary health care nurses.

What does being a Nurse Transformer involve?

Successful Nurse Transformers will be supported to complete online training in using digital health programs, including My Health Record, and attend education training sessions hosted by APNA and ADHA.

Nurse Transformers also create opportunities to share digital health knowledge and education with others to increase the uptake and adoption of digital health behaviours and document these using the Nurse Transformer Activity Tracker. Additionally, Nurse Transformers are invited to contribute to our Nurse DIGEST webinars, enhancing educational content provided by the Australian Digital Health Agency with your real examples and practical solutions relatable to the audience.

Applications for the Nurse Transformer program are now CLOSED. Contact the team if you have any questions

Be Inspired

The idea for APNA's Digital Health Nurse Transformers program was conceived back in 2019. APNA found that increasing knowledge of digital health policy, services and tools would be beneficial to increasing workforce efficiency and patient outcomes.

We looked to learn more about utilising My Health Record, electronic prescriptions and telehealth services routinely within primary health care. APNA recruited nurses interested in digital health technologies to educate and transform the practice of their peers and other health care professionals. We call these nurses Nurse Transformers!

APNA engaged Nurse Transformers to become advocates and enablers to educate and empower other nurses and health professionals to increase confidence in using digital health technologies in routine practice. Here's a downloadable overview of the Nurse Transformers program - From Idea to Action!
