2021 is set be a huge year for primary health care nurses. The world is in a global pandemic, the COVID vaccine is about to be rolled out across Australia and the federal government is releasing its Primary Health Care 10-Year Plan.

At APNA, we’re ready to support you through the year ahead.

  1. Keep up-to-date on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout

It’s what everyone’s talking about, and nurses will be at the center of it. We’re connecting you directly to the decision makers and experts. Only members have live access to the APNA COVID Webinar series, which will prepare you for the vaccine rollout. Keep up-to-date, visit APNA’s COVID page to learn the latest. We’ll give you the inside word on this historic event in healthcare and your career.

  2. World-class nurse education

There’s never been a more important time for nurses to access the latest in training and professional development. APNA has evolved our education offering to meet the needs of our busy members. Listen to the Nursing Australia podcast while out on a walk or catchup on a Nurse Know-How video during a tea break. In the last 12 months we’ve added more than 15 hours of new online learning modules to keep you up-to-speed.

An added bonus is that members who renew on time—by 31 March—will receive our newest online learning module, Foundations of Change Conversations and Negotiation in the Workplace, for FREE (usually $57.75 for members). You'll be armed with simple communication techniques to help you address problems and initiate change in the workplace.

  3.  APNA online communities

We’re launching brand-new APNA Online Communities where members can chat to other nurses and join different nursing discussion groups including general practice, aged care, and more. Ask questions, get answers and meet other nurses.

  4. Revamped Nurse Networks

Connect with other nurses like never before. This year we’re revamping APNA’s Nurse Networks and allowing nurses from across the country to join in and be leaders. Grow your professional network and grow your career.

  5. Nurse Support Line

With all the curveballs that 2021 is going to throw, we’re sure you’re going to have questions and will need some backup. Speak to an expert nurse who will provide support, share up-to-date information, best practice and clinical advice.

  6. The latest industry news and resources

Keep up-to-date with the latest in primary health care news, including new guidelines and clinical recommendations. Continue to receive the full-version of APNA’s weekly newsletter The Connect, and Primary Times magazine.

  7. Professional indemnity insurance

Protecting your livelihood shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. That’s why we offer cost-effective and comprehensive professional indemnity insurance cover for our members—12 months’ insurance for only $130.

  8. APNA, your voice at the table

This year the federal government will release its Primary Health Care 10-Year Plan, and APNA is at the table to ensure your voice is heard. We’re going to raise the profile of primary health care nurses and make the role of nurses more important than ever before.

  9. 2021 APNA Conference Roadshow

COVID restrictions have thrown a spanner in the works. Fear not, this year our national conference will be transformed into a Conference Roadshow, where APNA will host events around the country ensuring you can join us in your state or territory. We’re bringing an APNA Conference to you! The 2021 APNA Conference Roadshow is going to be the biggest event for nurses in 2021 and will be COVID safe. It’s on from September-November and members will be first to be invited, with access to discounted tickets.
