Primary health care is any medical service that is provided outside the four walls of a hospital, including aged care, community health, general practice, custodial, schools and many other primary health care settings. Australia's 98,000+ primary health care nurses play a critical role in disease prevention and control to keep people healthy. They provide proactive care and health promotion to keep Australians well.
Nurses, students, professionals and employers: join APNA today for unparalleled growth and support in primary health care.
Aspen Medical provides health teams to support aged care facilities significantly impacted by COVID-19, where requested by the Commonwealth Government. These teams may include a facility manager, clinical leads, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, physiotherapists and personal carers.
Teams are deployed for 14 to 60 days to enable the situation to be stabilised.
Aspen pays hourly base rates 20% above the award casual rate, along with a $300 bonus for each deployment. Accommodation is provided where travel time between home and a facility is more than an hour, and a $90 per diem where people are not staying at home.
Should a staff member be required to self-isolate as a result of their work with Aspen, they are paid 38 hours per week at their base rate for the period of isolation.
All people engaged by Aspen are required to complete online training related to COVID-19, infection control procedures and the correct use of PPE. Where a deployment is initiated, staff will receive a briefing on the facility they are going to, including orientation and their use of PPE.
