‘Excited’ isn’t a word that is usually used in the same sentence as ‘insurance’, but we honestly are! Cover! Value! Uncomplicated!

From January, APNA will transition to a new insurance partner for the APNA-Member Professional Indemnity (PI) policy. This change comes after an extensive tender process aimed at securing the best solution for APNA members, providing quality coverage across all of Australia, at a more competitive price.

What are the key benefits?

We’ve found you PI insurance that’s excellent value for money, provides comprehensive cover, and is easier to manage.

  • Lower pricing: The new products will go on sale at a lower premium than in 2024! $10 million coverage is available for just $149*, and $20 million coverage for just $20 more, at $169*.
  • Monthly payment option: You’ll now be able to pay insurance by monthly instalments – making it easier to manage costs – or upfront, if you prefer.
  • Cover for individual practitioners, no matter employment status: No more confusing questions about being ‘employed’ or ‘self-employed’, the new cover will be for any individual nurse no matter their employment status.
  • Full scope of practice coverage#: The new policy has additional benefits compared to the 2024 policy, including some cosmetic injectables. APNA-Member PI insurance will still cover a nurse’s full scope of practice including ear syringing (but excluding childbirth) and has useful benefits like legal advice.
  • Easier purchase process: We’ve streamlined the process to renew or sign up to PI with less hassle.
  • Auto-renewal: Just like monthly membership instalments, from 2026 your monthly insurance can automatically renew at the beginning of each membership year. Easy! (You will have to renew manually in 2025 to opt into this option.)
  • Insurance certificates immediately available: Personalised policy documents will be issued instantly, and available at any time on your APNA member dashboard.

Be covered and save in 2025

  • Already insured through APNA? You will need to renew before your current policy expires on 31 March 2025. When you receive your insurance renewal reminder in January, simply follow the steps to renew online.
  • Not currently insured through APNA? You don’t want to miss this deal: add insurance to your APNA membership and you’ll get up to 16 weeks of bonus cover for FREE! This offer is available from early December 2024 to 31 March 2025. The earlier you sign up, the more bonus cover you get. Head to the APNA website during this period to learn more.
