The 2024 Essential Health Summit and Festival of Nursing were held at the end of July in Adelaide. With over 1,100 delegates attending, this year’s event was the largest conference ever organised by APNA. Held over three days, the Summit brought together an impressive array of professionals dedicated to advancing primary health care and improving patient outcomes.

A comprehensive program for every nurse

The Summit featured a rich program designed to engage and inform, including 39 concurrent sessions, 18 masterclasses, and 30 speed presentations. Nurses from all settings found topics tailored to their interests and needs. Feedback from delegates highlighted the delight of having so many relevant options.

A standout aspect was the introduction of nursing students to the conference, creating an inclusive atmosphere where future nurses could connect with seasoned professionals and gain insights into their career paths. This event was not just for established nurses but also for those stepping into the profession, making it a truly intergenerational gathering.

Fun and wellness

In addition to educational sessions, the Summit featured 102 Expo booths, providing ample opportunities for networking and exploring the latest innovations in health care. Delegates enjoyed six social events that fostered collaboration and camaraderie, emphasising the importance of building a supportive professional community.

Recognising the demanding nature of nursing, the Summit also included five wellness events prioritising the health and well-being of participants. Feedback underscored this approach, with attendees expressing gratitude for the event’s focus on healthy living through nutritious food and organised activities.

Happy attendees

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Many described the conference as ‘inspiring’ and ‘informative’, with comments highlighting the excellent organisation and friendly atmosphere provided by the APNA team. One delegate remarked, ‘Thank you for an amazing experience; it was a fabulous conference!’ Others appreciated the thoughtful curation of sessions, noting the challenge of selecting from so many enticing options.
