Following the success of state-based face-to-face events in 2022, we have planned short evening educational events. Members can join in-person, online or at one of the 'live sites' across the country, giving you CPD and the opportunity to catch up with other nurses from your area.
It's a national nursing conference, SUPERCHARGED! We are bringing the vibe of a festival to CPD and letting you have fun with nurses from across the country. We've negotiated discounted airfares from the east coast for nurses, so join us in Perth for the most significant nursing event in the primary health care calendar!
We're investing in our APNA education suite to provide even more education across various digital learning methods.
We're putting data into action to help us champion the cause of all primary health care nurses. Off the back of the biggest-ever response to the APNA Workforce Survey, we have the key to open essential doors in the corridors of power at the state and federal levels. With the key working groups wrapping up in late 2022, including the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce, and recommendations being worked into the 2023-24 Federal Budget, we'll be working to ensure the Budget recognises that Australia needs you working to the top of your scope. We'll also be pushing state-funded areas of primary health care, including during the NSW state election.
The overall APNA strategic plan for the next five years has just been set. We're going to ensure the importance of primary health care nursing is reflected in government policy and invest in APNA and primary health care nursing for longevity and success. The strategy also launches a new member-only Nurse Education Fund, provides a pathway to embed the primary health care nursing Career and Education Frameworks widely across nursing education and a bold plan to offer more nursing students a primary health care placement during their studies.
With an APNA membership, you can purchase the APNA member PII that covers your full scope of practice (except acute midwifery services) anywhere in the world (excluding the USA and Canada). With $10 million cover per medical malpractice or public liability claim and $30 million worth of cover per year, you’re covered with a policy in your name if a problem ever arises. Recently some other insurers excluded some activities, including ear syringing, from their cover. The APNA member policy covers nurses for work activities, providing you are suitably qualified and are working by the NMBA registration standards, professional codes, and guidelines.
These new incentives in 2023 are underpinned by APNA’s outstanding member benefits, including; access to the latest industry news and guidelines; up-to-date education and resources, communities; expert advice and support; optional PI insurance and a range of other perks.
