A Burden and Privilege Together

A new artwork commissioned by APNA from Lesley Salem AM, a proud Wonnarura woman, artist, author, nurse practitioner and long-time APNA member.

This painting recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and the work they do in a wide range of primary health care settings, caring for Australians at every stage of life.

It was painted following conversations between Lesley and our First Nations Nursing Advisory Group.

We have commissioned a film about the painting, which will be released in late July. In the meantime, you can watch a clip of Lesley explaining the artwork and its symbolism.
