Primary health care is any medical service that is provided outside the four walls of a hospital, including general practice, aged care, schools, community health and other primary health care settings. Primary health care nurses play a critical role in keeping people healthy, providing proactive care and health promotion to keep Australians well.
This module is the second part of a 2 module course for nurses in the general practice setting. It focuses on the role of the various members of the mental health team, mental disorders, mental health problems and issues of early intervention, assisting clients to achieve and maintain good mental health. The development of this program was supported by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
