APNA Expert Nurse Panel

Apply to join the APNA Expert Nurse Panel and have the opportunity to publicly represent your profession and evaluate nurse education. The APNA Expert Nurse Panel is an opportunity only for APNA members.

Members of the Panel are offered to participate in the following activities:

Represent your profession

APNA Representative

APNA provides expert nurse representatives to committees, projects, working groups and at meetings where it is important that a primary health care nurse is at the table.

To become an APNA Representative, you need to:

- Be a registered or enrolled nurse

- A current APNA Member

- Ensure that you understand what is expected of you as a representative of APNA and the obligations that must be fulfilled for the particular representative program

- Always adhere to the APNA Charter of Expectations

Most opportunities for Representatives are unpaid, however APNA will reimburse any reasonable costs incurred. In some cases, organisations may offer payment for ongoing representative requirements.

Media Opportunities

APNA is often approached by journalists and members of the media, looking to interview primary health care nurses to get their perspective on newsworthy topics.

To be offered Media Opportunities, you need to be:

- A registered or enrolled nurse

- A current APNA Member

- Able to speak with authority on particular topics

Media Opportunities usually happen at short notice, so members of the Panel interested in being involved will need a level of flexibility. Members speaking to the media do so on their own behalf, not on behalf of APNA. Media Opportunities are unpaid, however APNA will reimburse any reasonable costs incurred.

Presenter

APNA run a series of workshops throughout the year, and we are always on the lookout for new presenters to join our team of speakers. We have space for speakers with their own content, as well as for those who are keen to get involved by presenting some content provided by APNA.

Presenters need to be:

- A current APNA Member

- Comfortable with public speaking and presenting

You don't necessarily need speaking experience, we're happy to provide you with support along the way. Some presenting opportunities are paid and some unpaid. APNA will reimburse any reasonable costs incurred.

Evaluate nurse education

Reviewer

APNA has a library of online learning that offers 200+ CPD hours to nurses and additional resources. To ensure the library is kept current, APNA has a review schedule so that modules are regularly scrutinised by nurses.

To become a Reviewer, you will need to be:

- A registered nurse

- A current APNA Member

Each review would entail going through the education modules to ensure that the content, references and external resources are still best-practice and up to date. Reviewers are paid for their time.

Assessor

APNA has a system to assess and endorse education from external providers.

To become an Assessor, you will need to be:

- A registered nurse

- A current APNA Member

- Have a Certificate IV training and assessment or tertiary qualification in education

Each assessment would entail going through an online course to ensure that the content, references and external resources are best-practice and up to date. Assessors are paid for their time.
