June 2026 tip

Made a mistake on a timesheet, like marking a student absent by accident? Don’t worry- there’s a simple way to fix it. All you need to do is just repeat the process and it over-rides any previous action on those timesheets.

Find out more about timeshets here: APNA InPlace - Quick Guide - Managing Timesheets

Remember, you’ll need to complete two types of timesheets when supervising a student, each with a different purpose. Getting them right helps ensure smooth payments and supports student progression. Visit our tip below for quick guidance on correcting errors and managing your submissions.

May 2026 tip

For each student you supervise, there are two timesheets you’ll need to complete. Both are important, but they serve different purposes:

1. InPlace Timesheet

This timesheet ensures your site’s financial compensation is processed correctly and without delay by APNA’s Placement and Finance teams. Completing this accurately helps avoid any payment hold‑ups. You’ll find more details about the InPlace Timesheet in the September 2025 tip.

2. Student’s Timesheet

This timesheet records the student’s placement hours, which are essential for graduation and AHPRA registration. It’s usually provided through the student’s Education Provider and may be completed online or as a hard copy. Students will let you know how their timesheet is accessed and submitted.

If you need more information about hosting student placements, including student scope of practice, please explore the resources available on APNA’s Supervisor Resources page.

January/February 2026 tip

Home dashboard

InPlace Network has features that update and release often, the latest release includes the new Home Dashboard.

This will soon be the dashboard that displays at log in for all supervisors, but right now, it is accessible by clicking 'Home' in the navigation panel. This screen combines the best sections of the Supervisor and Today dashboards and gives you more information about the students you are about to supervise.

Look through all three dashboard options to figure out which one suits your supervision needs best:

Today dashboard

If you select the 'Dashboard' option in the navigation panel and click on 'Today' you will be taken to another handy dashboard which shows all students under your supervision today. You can select either table or calendar view. This is helpful if you look after more than one student at a time or work across multiple sites:

November 2025 tip

Supervisor dashboard

When you log in to InPlace your first visible screen will be the Supervisor Dashboard - this allows you to view the navigation panel, your current 'To Do' list and summarises your sites currently active placements.

Note the quick link in the 'To Do' list to 'Approve timesheets' as you will need toaccess this often.

October 2025 tip

Accepting and rejecting offers

To ensure we can deliver the best possible service, please accept or reject offers within two weeks of APNA publishing them. Timely responses allow accepted placements to move forward with site coordination, including confirming dates and student details. Rejected offers can then be reallocated to other students who may benefit from them.

The example below shows how to accept or reject offers from the Academic Dashboard by clicking on the ‘Accept/Reject placements’ button (inside the red box).

To accept or reject individual sites, use the checkboxes to the left of each placement, then click either the Accept or Reject button at the top of the page.

September 2025 tip

Updating Timesheets: Daily or All at once?

Did you know that you can update a Student’s attendance timesheet within InPlace either daily or all at once at the end of a placement?

If you prefer Daily updating, navigate to the placement within InPlace (Placement > Search Placement > Click “View” next to the placement) and when looking at the student’s roster, you will be able to see the Timesheet sections here:

Clicking on this leads to that single day’s timesheet entry screen where you can fill in the highlighted fields and approve the timesheet all at once:

If doing the whole placement all at once at the end of the placement is more your style, you are able to utilize the Manage Timesheet screen (Placement > Manage Timesheet) to update all days at once by selecting the highlighted checkbox and utilizing the highlighted “Bulk Actions” dropdown:

Please note, through this process you will need to do at least two “Bulk Actions” –

  1. Update actual time
  • If required - Mark as absent will be your next action only if the student had any days off – ensure that you tick just the checkbox next to the day/s the student was absent
  1. Approve/Unapprove

If these “Bulk Actions” aren’t taken, your InPlace timesheets will not be submitted.

August 2025 tip

Did you know that InPlace Network recently updated the “Search Placements” screen? We have new search filters available to help you find your placements more easily! The default search setting is shown below:

  • Search: If you know the number of your placement, enter it here and hit “Filter”
  • Status: Want to see only your “Completed” placements? No problem! The “Status” filter allows you to select the different statuses of your placements to isolate what you want to see.
  • Start Date: There are several options available in this drop-down now to allow you to make your placements list isolate parts of the year. This week, this month, last quarter, even a custom date selection if needed.
    • NOTE: By default, Start Date is set to “This Year”, however if you prefer to see all the APNA placements you’ve ever had, simply click the highlighted cross that appears when you hover over the “Start Date” box, and when you click “Filter” you will be able to see your full list.
  • Agency: If you supervise at multiple sites or are an Area Manager with several sites within your remit, you can utilize the “Agency” filter to select between your sites.
  • More Filters: If these options alone don't cover what you would like to filter by, clicking the “More Filters” button gives you a full list of filter options.
