Primary health care is any medical service that is provided outside the four walls of a hospital, including aged care, community health, general practice, custodial, schools and many other primary health care settings. Australia's 98,000+ primary health care nurses play a critical role in disease prevention and control to keep people healthy. They provide proactive care and health promotion to keep Australians well.
APNA is committed to strengthening primary health care (PHC) and giving nurses working in this sector a strong voice. This includes our work to help shape the curriculum for both undergrad and postgrad programs while also stepping up our own research game.
We want to increase the visibility and representation of PHC nurses in clinical literature and health research. That's why we're teaming up with other research partners to promote more nurse-led studies and integrate the findings into our own education and policy endeavours.
Here’s what we’re focusing on:
Since we’re an MRFF-eligible organization, we’re excited to forge stronger research partnerships and make nursing research even more impactful!
