Research and Innovation

APNA is committed to strengthening primary health care (PHC) and giving nurses working in this sector a strong voice. This includes our work to help shape the curriculum for both undergrad and postgrad programs while also stepping up our own research game.

We want to increase the visibility and representation of PHC nurses in clinical literature and health research. That's why we're teaming up with other research partners to promote more nurse-led studies and integrate the findings into our own education and policy endeavours.

Here’s what we’re focusing on:

  • Helping shape curriculum for nursing students at all levels
  • Building our research and evaluation skills
  • Raising awareness about what PHC nurses do and their needs
  • Getting nurses more involved in health research
  • Increasing the visibility of PHC nursing in clinical literature

Since we’re an MRFF-eligible organization, we’re excited to forge stronger research partnerships and make nursing research even more impactful!  

The Research and Innovation Unit is headed by General Manager Lisa Collison, She is joined by:

  • Dr Kirsten Moore - Research and Evaluation Manager
  • Asmita Dalal - Research Project Coordinator 
  • Manan Mehta - Data Analyst
  • Megan Betz - Data Analyst
