Research and Innovation
APNA is committed to strengthening primary health care (PHC) and giving nurses working in this sector a strong voice. This includes our work to help shape the curriculum for both undergradate and postgradate programs while also stepping up our own research game.
We want to increase the visibility and representation of PHC nurses in clinical literature and health research. That's why we're teaming up with other research partners to promote more nurse-led studies and integrate the findings into our own education and policy endeavours.
Here’s what we’re focusing on:
- Helping shape curriculum for nursing students at all levels
- Harnessing our national workforce survey to amplify nurses’ and midwives’ voices for system change
- Building our research and evaluation skills
- Raising awareness of PHC nurses’ work and workforce needs
- Getting nurses more involved in health research
- Increasing the visibility of PHC nursing in clinical literature
APNA is an endorsed MRFF partner. We champion nurse-led research and work collaboratively across health disciplines to increase research impact, spark meaningful innovation, and improve health outcomes in our communities.
