Learning on the go with APNA online learning
The APNA Student Nurse Placement Program provides student nurses with a foot in the door to a career in a vibrant primary health care setting.
The placements allow students to experience the role of a primary health care nurse, in a small ratio environment, usually 1:1.
Primary health care is any medical service that is provided outside the four walls of a hospital, including General Practice, Aged Care, Schools, Community health and other primary health care settings.
Primary health care nurses play a critical role in keeping people healthy, providing proactive care and health promotion to keep Australians well.
APNA is the peak body and professional membership association for all nurses working outside of a hospital setting in Australia. APNA provides membership for all types of nurses, including student nurses, learn more here.
APNA works with universities and tertiary institutions to place their students in primary health care settings. Unfortunately, we do not work with individual student nurses to arrange placements.
If you are a student nurse and wish to undertake a placement in primary health care, please speak with your education provider. Feel free to provide your provider with the APNA Student Nurse Placement Program web page and ask they contact APNA to discuss primary health care placements.
